Braces aren’t just for kids anymore. Orthodontic Care Specialists is a family orthodontics clinic in Minnesota that can help you enhance your smile at any age, as long as your gums and bone structure are healthy. The new techniques and appliances we use greatly reduce discomfort levels, decrease the frequency of visits, shorten treatment time and even allow you to choose from several options. Your options may include metal braces, translucent braces or transparent aligners that can be worn at night to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth.

Braces have one aim: to use consistent, gentle pressure to move teeth into proper alignment. Braces do their work over time, it’s important that each person’s teeth get treated based on a personalized diagnosis. Each case is different and the exact treatment process varies, but treatment always starts with a diagnosis that involves X-rays, dental impressions and photographs. From that information, we create a treatment plan. The time treatment takes varies depending on age, the severity of the condition and how well patients follow through on their treatment. In most cases, you can expect treatment to last about 2 years.
 to help you.

Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. That’s because this is the time when kids are starting to get their first adult molars, which establish the back bite. Orthodontics for children is also when an orthodontist can begin to properly evaluate front-to-back and side-to-side tooth relationships.

The benefits of early orthodontist treatment:

Create facial symmetry by guiding jaw growth
  • Create space for incoming teeth

  • Reduce treatment time with braces for kids

Start treatment late

A large percentage of our patients are adults, and they agree that it’s never too late to start showing off a beautiful set of pearly whites. Adult orthodontic treatment can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and even jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain.
